About CogOS
Open-source. Privacy-first. Built for families navigating AI.
The big idea
CogOS is an open-source Cognitive Operating System for families navigating AI. We believe that artificial intelligence should be a tool families confidently use β not a force that replaces them, surveils them, or makes them feel left behind.
CogOS gives any family the same quality of multi-LLM tools that well-resourced technical households build for themselves, packaged so it works on the phones, laptops, and computers the family already owns.
What you're seeing in this demo
This is an interactive preview running entirely in your browser. The Voice Console simulates how CogOS sends prompts to multiple LLMs simultaneously β in the real product, those calls go to your own Anthropic, Google, and local Ollama instances (no shared keys, no shared data).
- Multi-LLM fanout β same prompt, multiple models, side-by-side comparison
- Local-first β sensitive prompts route to a model running on the user's own machine
- Persistent tickets β every conversation is archived, searchable, exportable
- Family-private β runs on the family's own infrastructure or Tailscale mesh; never on a shared cloud
- Open source β code is BSL-licensed (free for non-commercial use, source visible, fork-able)
How CogOS pays for itself
We don't sell user data. We don't run advertising. The platform is free for families. We pay our bills through:
- Community support (Patreon / GitHub Sponsors)
- Paid cohort courses on AI literacy
- Sponsorships from privacy-first companies whose values align
- Optional broker integration tech fees (when the Money Module is in use)
- A small-business hosted version for teams that need shared infrastructure
Who's building it
CogOS is built and stewarded by ISLA Inversion Inc., a Wyoming corporation owned and operated by the Halupka family.
Kevin (founder, engineer) defines the technical roadmap. Meghan stewards operations and values. Two sons are the next generation of builders, the first peers of the kids we serve, and the honest reality check on what works.
Contributors are welcome under a published Code of Conduct. Governance is currently family-led; it will expand as the community grows.

"AI should be the friend at the kitchen table who knows everything but never makes the decisions. CogOS is the table."
